A solar sail designed to spin as photons hit it. This spins a generator to produce electricity. It doesn't fly away as it's fixed to the top of a space elevator which it powers. A massive lens goes in between the sun and the sail to focus the light and speed up the process

in 50 years the paralympics will be a bigger draw the the boring olympics, athletes will move to it, right now a great athlete can't take steriods but if they swap out there legs for some cheetah blades then there's a whole international organization ready to let them in, cheer them on and stick em on a cereal box.

You plant seismic probes all over the desert border area which are tuned into the bipeds and vans

You create an underground radar network. There would be no false positive as not much bigger than 140 pound roams the desert. Any seismic action would be from people and trucks crossing the desert.
